Seasons greeting! I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful and fruitful new year of 2024.

To ensure a seamless Information Service Provision in the coming year, the following maintenance services have been scheduled:

30 December 2023 (Saturday) at 2:30pm
  • This job consists of 2 parts. (1) Relocation of a few servers; (2) Data migration of College main data vault.
  • During Part (1), the whole campus network, including but not limit to the phone system, web sites, library system and admission system and etc will be offline. It should take 1.5 hours to complete this part.
  • During Part (2), the Student Portal, Printing System and Centralised Filing System and etc will be offline. It will take 48 hours to complete this part.
  • The campus network and all Information Systems will be back online by 4:00pm.
  • The Student Portal, Printing Management System and Centralised Filing System and etc will be back online by 1 January 2024.
5 January 2024 (Friday) at 7:30pm
  • System upgrade of VDI cluster for better compatibility of Windows 10 or above Virtual Machine.
  • All Virtual Machines must be shutdown. The campus network and other Information Services will not be affected.
  • It will take about 5 hours to complete the job.
  • The VDI service should be back online by 00:30am on the following day. 
20 January 2024 (Saturday) at 1:30pm
  • Hardware upgrade of the VDI cluster servers.
  • All Virtual Machines must be shutdown. The campus network and other Information Services will not be affected.
  • It will take about 3 hours to complete the job.
  • The VDI service should be back online by 4:30pm.
2 February 2024 (Friday) at 7:30pm
  • Hardware upgrade of the LXD cluster (the pool of servers running all Information Systems). 4 servers will be added to the cluster and 3 servers will be retired from the cluster.
  • Information Services may be interrupted, slowed down, intermittently. Since access to the information services will not be guaranteed, users are strongly advised to take a break during the upgrade.
  • It will take about 4 hours to complete the job.

 

You will be notified again a day before the actual maintenance schedule.
