Dear Fellow Students,

Updates to Students from the College Management

Life has been different again since the last time we wrote to you.  In recent days, we all have gradually resumed different social activities and move on to a more active schedule.  While most of you have been away from the campus for the summer break, we would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some updates from the College management.

College Operation

In early April when the epidemic situation seemed to have been contained on a more “controllable” level, all administrative units resumed office work with flexi-hour provision.  Following the Government’s announcement on relaxing the social distancing measures, the College resumed on-campus face-to-face teaching and learning starting from 3 May 2022.  The College also made the same adjustment to the Vaccine Pass requirement that anybody entering the campus need to have received the third dose starting from 31 May.

Teaching and Learning

Academic results of the 2nd semester were released in end May.  The majority of you have completed the current academic year.  Six courses are being delivered in the 3rd semester which commenced on 10 May with on-campus mode continued.  For those who are still engaged in practicum or busily involved in the honours project, hope you could make your best effort, and the work goes well and smooth.

Student Development

The Student Development Office has lined up workshops on mindfulness and succulent arrangement to help you relax after 2 semesters of hard work.  There are also activities for skills enhancement, such as courses on mental health first aid and hiking skills training, both of which are already full.  For students who are about to graduate, the CV Clinic is available to provide job finding support and consultation.

As the general atmosphere is less threatening, we appeal to graduating students who are yet to fulfil the community service requirement to seize the time now and work on the required service hours as soon as possible.  We would also like to remind Year 1 degree students that job places are available in different offices and units of the College for the in-house service programme.  If you have not met the study requirement, act now to have a taste of work experience and start engage in service learning.

Programme Development

Thanks to the efforts of the staff team, accreditation of the one-year part-time Professional Diploma Programme in Property and Facilities Management was smoothly held with interim approval received.  The programme commencement is planned for September 2022.  Meanwhile, staff are also busily preparing for the re-accreditation of 3 programmes, namely Diploma in Pre-University Studies, Higher Diploma in Christian Ministry and Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

Graduation Ceremony

As it is the earnest hope of the College management to hold the Graduation Ceremony in person, booking of the venue at Southorn Stadium is being kept in the hope of postponing the event to a more feasible time when the four cohorts of graduates could join together in a combined ceremony.  The tentative date is set for 4 November 2022. While the development of the epidemic could be erratic, we shall keep you informed when we could proceed to make further arrangement.

Preparation for the Next Academic Year

With more new programmes approved for commencement, colleagues have already started preparing for the next academic year, including programme administration work, promotion and publicity for student recruitment.  To further reach out to the Christian community, there will be a Vision Sharing Luncheon held by the School of Christian Ministry on 29 June 2022.

We hope the epidemic situation would remain stable and the face-to-face operation could be continued by the time the new academic year commences.  Look forward to meeting you on campus again.

With best wishes!
