Dear Students,

The Education Bureau announced that, in the 2023/24 academic year, the subsidy amount of the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS) will be adjusted upwards to HK$33,740 and the eligibility criteria will be rationalised to benefit students from different backgrounds.

In view of the recent rationalisation announced of the NMTSS for 2023/24 academic year, local current students who are enrolling in programmes covered by the NMTSS but are not eligible for NMTSS subsidy or did not apply for the subsidy in the 2022/23 academic year, can submit an application form for the NMTSS subsidy if they are still within the normal duration of programme and become eligible from the 2023/24 AY onwards.

Note for rationalisation of NMTSS:

With effect from the 2023/24 AY, similar to new intakes, local current students admitted to:

1.        eligible first-year-first-degree programmes, regardless of whether they have attained the "3322" requirement in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, will be eligible for the NMTSS.

2.        eligible top-up degree programmes, in addition to those with relevant sub-degree qualifications, students with other qualifications such as a VPET diploma will also be eligible for the scheme.

However, the following current students are still not eligible for the NMTSS:

1.        non-local students

2.        students already attained any Bachelor’s degree or above qualifications

3.        students enrolling in any subsidised undergraduate or sub-degree programmes (such as University Grants Committee-funded programmes, subvented programmes of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and subsidised places of the designated programmes under SSSDP)

Following on this good news, the College now invites those current students who meet the above requirements to join. Please download the form and submit the completed form to the Finance Office at Room 301 by 30 June 2023. Please attach the following documents:

1.    Copy of your HKID card (All collected HKID copies will be destroyed after EDB’s inspection)

2.    Copy of your academic qualification

If the student has made amendments to the application form, please sign next to the amendments.

For those students who submit the completed application forms with supporting documents which are afterwards verified, they will receive the Tuition Fee Debit Note invoice for the 1st semester of 2023/24 with an amount net of subsidy in late July 2023.

Thank you for your kind attention.

 Best regards,
