Dear Fellow Students,

The ITSO has been working with vendor for solutions to resolve the VDI system performance issues that have been bothering us in the past months. After days of investigation, it was concluded that system performance of the VDI system has been serious affected by

(1) Corrupted virtual machine profiles
(2) Saturation of the High Speed storage

Last week, some of the corrupted profiles were restored manually. For a long-term fix, issue (2) must be solved by upgrading two of the SSD in the disk array. Since manual synchronisation of data is required after the SSD upgrade, the VDI performance will be affected seriously during the synchronisation.

The upgrade has been scheduled on the coming Monday 15 March 2021 after 6pm. You are kindly requested to avoid using the VDI system during the upgrade process. I hope that the upgrade can be finished by midnight. You will be notified as soon as the upgrade is done.

All other systems, such as Zoom, Moodle, WiFi, email, Macintosh in the classrooms, will not be affected.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. Thank you so much for your attention.

Yours Obediently,
