Dear Fellow Students,

Updates to Students from the College Management

The 2nd semester is already halfway through and the Easter Season is approaching.  We hope you are doing well with your studies and making good progress.  Graduating students are reminded to check out the updates on service opportunities and schedule time to complete the required community service hours for graduation.

College Assemblies

The sharing session of the 3 College Assemblies held during the period continued to feature the theme "To Forge Ahead, To Serve, To Create".  Speakers invited included Mr Yuen Shu Wah, Chairman of the Board of Governors for the January Assembly, two Social Work alumni and Pastor S C Leung for the February and March ones respectively.  The message of staying true to one’s belief and pursuing the aspiration with faith was conveyed in the talk series.  Attendees were particularly impressed by the arduous efforts of Mr Yuen’s team and the miraculous progress made in the afforestation project in Inner Mongolia over the past 12 years.

Student Welfare and Support

The Student Development Office has been making ongoing efforts to source more scholarships, exchange programmes and personal development opportunities to meet the needs of students.  In the coming months, the focus of student activities will be on career support services.  Career talks, workshops and mock job interviews, etc. will be arranged to better prepare the final-year students to enter the workplace.

Many students are engaging in practicum and internship as part of the learning/exit requirement.  As expected, some students might at times need to deal with situations which make them feel frustrated, stressed or helpless.  If you have experienced the same, we earnestly wish you to know that there is always backup from the Gratian family.  You’re not alone in dealing with the problem, and you are not the only one having difficulty.  Talk to your supervisor, mentor or course lecturers.  Let us know what is bothering you.  Tell us your thoughts or suggestions if in need.

Programme Development and Re-accreditation

The 2-year part-time Advanced Diploma in Property and Facilities Management Programme was successfully accredited.  Admission for the first intake is planned for May 2024.  Meanwhile, internal review and panel visits of the regulatory body for the re-accreditation of six learning programmes have been scheduled for the coming few months.  Both faculty and administrative staff concerned will be preoccupied with the preparation work for these important programme accreditation exercises.

With best wishes,

College Management
