Prolonging the life cycle of air conditioners in all rooms

Dear Students,

As advised by the air conditioner maintenance contractor, the air conditioners must be shutdown/stopped/powered-off using the corresponding remote controller. It is not advisable to cut off the electricity supply to the air conditioners (turning the switches on the wall) directly. For your information, the air conditioner must perform a standard shutdown procedure before turning itself off. Such a procedure cannot be executed if the power to the air conditioners was cut off abruptly with the power switches on the wall. As a result, some parts, such as the water pump and compressor, may be damaged easily.

To prolong the life cycle of the air conditioners, I would like to draw your attention on the followings please:
  1. Do not turn off the air conditioners' power switches on the wall. (they will be turned off at around 7:45pm everyday)
  2. Use only the "remote controller" to shutdown/stop/power-off the air conditioners.
  3. In the morning, please turn on the air conditioners' power switches if they are off.
Thank you very much for your attention. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any query regarding this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Terry Ng
