Upgrade of Data Storage

Dear All,

In view of the increasing demand of data storage (for your home directory or personal shared folder) in the Linux system, the array of hard disks has been replaced in the past two weeks. The new array is designed to have 22 T bytes (the old one has 2.5 T) of storage with redundant fault protection.

A scheduled maintenance work is expected to be carried out on 20th Apr 2016 at around 6:30pm. The followings will be done accordingly,
- A full backup of all the data
- Expending the existing data storage to 22 T

It will be at least 12 hours to complete the jobs. You are, therefore, advised not to use the General Computing Network from 20th Apr 2016 6:30pm to 21th Apr 2-16 6:30am.

All active login will be terminated upon the start of the maintenance. Please save your works and log out accordingly.  You will be informed when the maintenance is completed.

Thank you very much for your attention.
